Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Myles}

Hope everyone made it through the heat wave. I’m heading home from a much needed holiday to visit family we haven’t been able to see in a couple years and ready to get back to a busy summer full of beautiful families and babies.

Did you know that I offer a First Year Package for newborns. This package has become increasingly popular with families who want to capture all of baby’s first year milestones. Package includes a Maternity session, Newborn session, Sitter Mini (when baby is 6-8months old and sitting unassisted) and a First Birthday session which can be a cake smash, just portraits, family photos or a combination of all three. At the end of the year you will choose your favorite images and receive a gorgeous heirloom quality custom designed album featuring your favorite image of baby of the cover, a box that doubles as a frame that can easily be displayed and your choice of spine and back cover in linen or leather (which is available in dozens of colors).

After paying initial deposit the remaining session fee can be paid over the course of one year for approximately $158/month. If you are looking for a beautiful heirloom to pass on to your baby this package gives you the perfect keepsake. If you have any questions at all please contact me

I had been looking forward to meeting little Myles since earlier this year when his grand father contacted me about photographing his grandson in hospital. Myles was born very prematurely and weighed only 1.5 lbs. We stayed in contact over the course of a few months until after 100 days in the NiCU little Myles could finally go home. When I met this little guy he was still a tiny 5 lbs. but so wide eyed and strong. He truly is a little fighter. I was so grateful for the opportunity to capture such a special little man. Chris & Lynn thank you so much for inviting me into your home to capture your sweet baby boy. Wishing you all the best as a family of three. {Kelsie}

Edmonton & Area Newborn Photographer {Baby Logan} Sneak Peek

This summer is quickly coming to an end. It'y my oldest daughter's 9th birthday tomorrow and the rest of the year seems to fly by after that, before we know it it's my birthday, Halloween, my middle ones's birthday in November and then boom it's Christmas! It is so amazing how fast time and the years fly by when you become a parent. I remember sitting in my daughter's finished nursery before she arrived thinking is this baby ever going to get here and here I am nine years later and it went by sooooo fast, too fast! This is why newborn and family photography is so important and why I feel so lucky every time I capture such fleeting moments and memories for families, your babies are only babies for so long and you only get so many years with your children. If not for yourself, give your kids the gift of images of them wrapped in their mother's arms or being tickled by their dad, my girls love looking back at our old family photos and remembering how little they used to be and how young their mom and dad used to look, how life was when their was just one, two then three of them. If you are looking to book a 2018 session my newborn and family openings are booking up fast now. Please contact me to book your 2018 or 2019 newborn session. To book a 2018 family session, please visit my easy online booking tool by clicking the button below.

July was a full month of sweet squishy little newborns, including two little guy's named Logan. The second Logan I was lucky to meet was the 100th newborn I've photographed, and what  perfect timing as this little guy is very special. This beautiful family has been wanting to start a family for many years and after 5 years on a waiting list they finally received the most amazing news, a baby boy would be theirs through the love of adoption. I couldn't imagine the joy and happiness they must feel and did it ever show when I finally got to meet them, you couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces, just pure love and joy.  This tiny 5lb. little guy had to travel a few hours home and I couldn't stop imagining what it would be like to bring a baby home after waiting so long, the anticipation to finally get home and start your life together! For his newborn session he was so wide eyed and smiley to start then a sleeping little angel for me once I posed him, the kind of session newborn photographers dream of! Michelle and Brendan, it was such a pleasure meeting you both and capturing this very special time for your family. Wishing you the very best as a family of three. Enjoy. {K}

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Alexander} Sneak Peek

Wow has it really been a whole month since my last post? Summer is always a really busy time for our family as well as my business. I have been so busy in the background shooting the most beautiful families and editing like a maniac, on top of trying to enjoy on of the 18 summers I get with my girls. I really appreciate everyones patience as I get caught up on galleries and sneak peeks. I am always very upfront with my turn around times and as much as I would love to deliver your photos to you in a matter of days and not weeks raising a family and running a successful business means making some sacrifices on both sides. 2018 family session dates are booking up so fast - THANK YOU! Remaining summer dates are $50 off and fall openings are very slim. Book your spot today, I would love to see you again or meet your beautiful family.

I had the absolute privilege of meeting this amazing family earlier this month. On Canada Day I happened to see their story featured on Global Edmonton news - you can read more here. I was incredibly touched and reached out to them to see if I could gift them a newborn session and I was so happy when they graciously accepted. Giving has always been an important part of my life and my business and I am always so rewarded in the end, in this case I met a very special family who's story has inspired me and touched my heart. You can read more about mom Kuen's journey here, and I encourage you to. As a young woman she became a quadriplegic after a horrific car accident, but she hasn't let that stop her from living a full life. Given a very small chance of ever conceiving a baby, sweet little Alexander, affectionately known as baby Thor, was really a miracle. Kuen and Jack, thank you so much for inviting me into your home to capture this special time for your family. I wish you absolutely nothing but the best, it was such a pleasure to capture these precious memories for you. {K}

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Jack} Sneak Peek

Happy Easter everyone. I hope those of you that have school aged kids are enjoying spring break. Spring break for me is a preview for the summer, laid back days full of fun and time with my kids. I am so lucky that being self employed as a photographer I get to spend days like these with my girls, days that if I worked a 9-5 job I wouldn't get. Some exciting news to share. my home studio is now open for business. I did my first round of Easter minis last weekend (so much fun)  and you can expect more themed minis throughout the year. I am also booking 2018 studio newborn mini sessions and milestone sessions for babies 6 months to 2 years. You can find all info and pricing here. I will be releasing some mom and me cuddle minis in time for Mothers Days soon, be the first to know by joining by VIP group. And don't forget to book your spring mini session, limited openings available.

Sometimes the stars align and a last minute booking ends up being one of your favourite newborn sessions - that was the case when I met this beautiful family last week. Rebecca and John welcomed baby Jack just a few hours shy of his due date, just in time to celebrate Easter with their new baby. I had the most gorgeous home to shoot in, every room so full of light even on a very dark and cloudy spring day. Jack was so content wrapped up and in the arms of his parents, who were so obviously smitten with him it melted my heart. For his posed photos I definitely had to keep him wrapped up to keep him happy, but he was such an angel and I even got a couple sweet Easter themed images to share just in time for the holiday. Rebecca and John, thank you so much for inviting me into your home to capture this special fleeting time. Wishing you all the best as a family of three. Enjoy. {K}

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Madelyn} Sneak Peek

Late night post once again, but this month has been so full that I am surprised I am not more behind on posts! It is just impossible to find time to work during the day right now with my youngest hitting the absolutely peek of terrible twos! This January has also been my busiest yet, thank you!  So many squishy new years babies, as well as some new adventures.

I wanted to write a whole post about how I have really had an amazing start to 2018 by stepping out of my comfort zone, something that I am starting to realize is one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself, but I didn't want to put off anymore sneak peeks that I know are being patiently waited for. This past weekend I taught my first photography class - something that if you asked me even five years ago if I would do I would say you couldn't pay me enough; I started off a bit nervous, but by then end of the class I felt so comfortable and I was already looking forward to my next class. Then I had a really amazing mom boss moment the other day when I bought my first vehicle all on my own, something that might not seem like a big deal, but it means that I have reached financial independence as a business owner, and it felt amazing. Plus it's a mini van - a luxury vehicle when you are a mom of three! All in all it has been an amazing start to 2018 and I am so excited to see where the rest of this year takes me.

I was lucky to meet sweet little Madelyn a couple weeks ago; I had met her parents earlier this winter for a maternity session and was so excited to hear they had welcomed a little girl. After getting completely lost on my way to the session, thanks google maps, I finally arrived to find just the most wide eyed baby girl all ready for her close ups. After some shots with mom, dad and even grandma who was visiting from out east, I definitely had to work to get some sleepy shots of this little lady who was definitely happier in mom or dad's arms. Sometimes sessions take more patience and time than others, but the love and wonder that surrounds a first baby is so beautiful to capture and I always feel so lucky to photograph these fleeting moments for families. J & M, thank you for inviting me into your beautiful home to capture this special time. Wishing you all the best as a family of three. Enjoy. {K}
