Happy spring. The birds singing, the warmer days, after a long winter during one of the hardest years it as been so great for my mental health to be outside a little bit more. Sadly COVID-19 is still a real health threat and life isn’t quite as back to normal as all of us hoped it would be. The good news is that vaccines are here and I will be booking my appointment as soon as I am able to; my husband who is a front line worker will be able to book his appointment very soon which will provide an extra layer of defence for our family. With the current restrictions in place I am thankfully still able to photographer your families and babies by appointment only. Unfortunately I will not be offering my Mother Day minis this year given the back to back nature of them aren’t safe.

The green grass will be here before we know it and my summer and fall dates are already starting to book up fast. Now is also the time to book your 2021 grad session - you can view all my available openings and book online using button below for all 2021 session dates. I am still booking newborn sessions so be sure to book in your second trimester to ensure I have an opening available. All session deposits are fully refundable in the event any further Alberta health restrictions prevent me from doing session. Due this April? I still have a couple openings left and April newborn sessions are $100 off. Thank you so much to everyone who has booked and has trusted me to safely photograph your family this year.

I met this beautiful family for Kaylee’s maternity session during the February cold snap. I got my studio all set up for maternity portraits and we shot her session in studio, except for a few quick shots outside. Kaylee looked absolutely stunning in two of my maternity gowns and I am now hooked to studio maternity sessions. I was thrilled to hear that little Harrison arrived safely just as the weather was warming up and I met him when he was 9 days old for an in home newborn session. Wide eyed and awake for most of the session, by the time I was ready to pose him for his portraits he was nice and sleepy for me. I am so happy to have the opportunity to capture Harrison’s first year, it’s so amazing how much babies grow and change over the course of just 12 months. Kaylee and Adam thank you so much for choosing me to capture this special time for your family. Wishing you all the best as a family of three. {K}

Sweet little Weston visited my Devon home studio a couple weeks ago along with this drop dead gorgeous family. I have never had a more wonderful time capturing a family so full of love for one another. Mom and dad so smitten with each other and their boys, and brothers so enamoured with their new baby brother. Weston, a special Rainbow Baby, was an absolute angel for me and we were able to capture so many sweet shots. His beautiful mom gave me the greatest compliment during our session and it was about how safe she felt with me posing her baby. When you book a newborn photographer I understand that usually cost is the first thing you see - but please don’t be afraid to ask any potential newborn photographer how much experience they have with newborns and also how much safety training they have received. Safety is absolutely my number one priority when photographing your baby, and I am aways investing in more and more education to make sure I always capture beautiful posed images of baby safely. You will see a photo below of tiny little Weston in a basket - he was never left unattended in that basket - during poses like this mom or dad are always right next to baby and resting a hand on them when I am not shooting. Safety always come first. Danielle and Brandon, thank you so much for trusting me with these photos of your precious boy. Wishing you all the best as a family of five. Enjoy.

I have been so lucky to have watched this family grow since they welcomed their first baby Alena a few years ago and was so thrilled when they contacted my to photograph their second baby’s first year. A little brother Xavier for Alena, and oh my heart does she ever love him. I still remember her love of baby dolls and now she has her own real life baby, she had so many snuggles and kisses for her new baby brother, so heart melting. Brittany and Aaron, thank you so much for choosing me as your family photographer. I can’t wait to watch little Xavier grow. Wishing you all the best as a family of 4.

Happy Mother’s Day. I am writing this post super late in the evening as this Mother’s Day was a busy one, from spending the morning with my mom, to coming home, seeing my husband off to work, then doing my best to be present for my girls while trying to get all caught up because this time tomorrow I will be in Vegas! Typical day, motherhood is just that, juggling a million things all the time, even on our special days. Another word that resonates with me when I think of Motherhood is “fleeting” - My oldest daughter will be 10 this summer and my baby just turned 4, and every year seems to fly by faster than the last. Getting in the frame with my girls is the only way I know I will be able to hold onto to this beautiful season of my life. This Mother’s day treat yourself with family photos that I know you will cherish as your children grow older. 2019 family session dates are booking up fast, click on button to see current openings and conveniently book your family session online today.

What kind of Mother’s day would it be without featuring a brand new gorgeous mama on the blog. I met sweet baby Everette earlier this week and oh my gosh what a little doll she was. I am so lucky to call Aryn and Hayes family and I was so excited when they asked to photograph their baby girl. Little miss Evie was born on Easter Sunday, a bit earlier than expected, so a very tiny 6 lbs. of pure sweetness. I photographed this new family in their gorgeous home, so full of natural light and the nursery has to be one of the most beautiful I’ve seen, such a treat. I am always blown away how amazing parents can look during the throughs of early days with a newborn, and Aryn was no exception, such a stunning new mom! And both parents just beaming with love for their little one, it doesn’t get much better than that. A & H thank you so much for having me capture this special time for your family. I can’t wait to see you all again soon and watch little Everette grow up. Wishing you all this best as a family of three. Enjoy! Love {K}.

Spring is finally here and I couldn’t be happier. Walks to the park, rubber boots and puddles, I love this time of year. The snow will be gone before we know it and my spring and summer dates will begin to book up - if a bug free spring family session with a little bit of puddle jumping appeals to you be sure to check out my available session dates here limited April and May openings available. Mommy & Me studio sessions are also coming up for Mothers Day on April 27th - visit me on Facebook to learn more. I have so much to look forward to this spring, my first Mama & Camera’s class and so many spring newborns. I was also thrilled to learn my favorite newborn photographers Hello Baby Photography will be in BC this summer for a workshop and lucky me I get to go! The most amazing thing about being a photographer is that there is endless opportunities to grow and learn and I am so lucky to have the opportunity to learn from the best photographers from around the world.

I was so lucky to meet this sweet family earlier this year for a maternity session and again for an in home newborn session just over a week ago once baby George arrived. Photographing families in the comfort of their home has a special spot in my heart, I love using the background of their home to really capture the story of those early days with a newborn. Big brother Cooper wasn’t camera shy at all and made my job so much fun. Little George was surprisingly wide awake for being just 6 days old, but drifted off to sleep once I got him into his comfy spot - he loved being on his side. Robyn and Aaron, thank you so much for inviting me into your beautiful home to capture your family and this special time. Wishing you all the best as a family of four. Love, K.
