{Hello 2021} Edmonton Newborn | Maternity | Fresh 48 | Family Photographer

Ahhhh deep breath….I’m back and ready to put 2020 and the hardest year for my business behind me and start 2021 with fresh goals, fresh ideas, more confidence and hopefully a lot more newborn babies. First things first - A brand new website! And with that brand new packages for family, newborn, maternity, fresh 48 and baby sessions that I am sure you’ll love. 2021 family session dates are also now available for online booking - book now and get the date that works best for you. All images on the site are from the past year and a half - I felt that I have grown so much as a photographer in the past year and a half and wanted to show you the work that is the best reflection of what you will receive when you book a session with me.

2020 was going to be the year I grew more than ever, photographed the most babies, and did more studio sessions than ever before. Then COVID hit and we all know what that has affected so many lives and so many small businesses. Your family’s health and safety has always been my number one priority, and as hard as it is I will continue to follow all AHS guidelines which currently only allow me to photograph families outdoor or in studio. Crossing my fingers that restrictions will be eased on January 23rd and I will be able to get back to my in home newborn sessions.

When you book any session this year you can rest assured that your deposit will be transferred in the event a health order prevents me from doing your session. In studio I am currently following all orders which include wearing a mask and washing hands frequently. I also have an awesome disinfectant fogger from a fantastic local business Maverick Fire and Safety that I use before and after every session to clean and disinfect all spaces and surfaces clients come in contact with. As always, newborn props, wraps and backdrop are always washed before and after any newborn session. I allow 24 hours between each booking and always require clients to reschedule if an immediate family member is sick.

I’ve made some exciting changes to my studio as well, including new studio lighting and a more comfortable seating area for parents. I can’t wait to shoot more newborns, sitters and cake smash sessions this year.

Thank you so much to everyone who continues to support and trust me to capture your family safely. I am so passionate about capturing your memories and hope that you will take me a long for a ride with your family this year. Please check out my new website and packages and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions at all. Together we will get through this all and I hope all of our sacrifices pay off soon and we can all get back to doing the things we love very soon.

Please enjoy some off my favorites below from 2020

This summer is sure flying by, can’t believe there is just over a month left before my girls head back to school. We are lucky if we get 18 summers with our kids, and that time is more than half up with my oldest daughter who turns 10 this summer, so bittersweet. We finally got a stretch of nice weather this week, so this blog post and some editing got set aside so I could enjoy some pool time which has been very rare this rainy summer; thanks to all of my amazing families that are waiting on galleries, I hope you are out enjoying this weather too! If you were still looking to book a summer family session, or even an extended family session as this is usually the time of year families get together most, I still have some August openings. I would love to meet your family out at the lake, or in your family’s beautiful canola fields if you are lucky enough to have that view. Fall dates are really starting to book up, and due to overwhelming demand I have added two more September family session dates. Book your 2019 session now!

Earlier this month I was so lucky to visit family in beautiful Cascade Montana for July 4th! We had an absolutely incredible time, hiking Slucie Boxes State Park, boating Holter Lake and floating the Missouri River; and of course blowing up tons of fireworks for July 4th! On my last night there I was so lucky to have the opportunity to photograph my beautiful cousin Katie, who will be a senior this year and will be graduating next spring. I photographed her sister Kelli a couple years ago and loved having another different but amazing backdrop to shoot against. Montana is really a breathtaking place, you could literally photograph someone in a ditch and it would be a nice shot. For Katie’s session we started at the small town arena then hit up some old country roads with the sunset and mountains as our backdrop. We finished with photos with her horse back home, what a dream session. Katie, thank you so much for choosing me to capture these photos for you. You are a smart, kind, sweet and gorgeous girl. Wishing you all the best on your graduating year, can’t wait to see what the future brings for you, you go girl! Chase those dreams! {K}

Edmonton Newborn & Maternity Photographer {Trinity} Sneak Peek

Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. I had a very busy one, teaching a Lightroom class Saturday and today welcoming nine beautiful families into my home for Easter Mini sessions in my brand new in home studio. There is still some work to be done, but with the help of my amazing husband I was able to get my studio just ready enough for this weekend. I will continue to offer on location in home newborn sessions and family sessions as always, but am happy to also offer milestone mini sessions, mini newborn sessions, winter maternity sessions and special edition mini sessions in my studio space; watch for more details soon, as well as a grand opening celebration some time this spring. If you are expecting this summer or fall and would like more information (including pricing) on my studio newborn sessions please contact me. I have spent the last several months educating myself on newborn safety and studio posing and I can't wait to do my first newborn session in my studio. I will be announcing a model call very soon on in my VIP group, so be sure to join and add your friends who are expecting a little one soon too!

I have been lucky to know Trinity for many years, we worked at two companies together before I started my photography business and she started her own company Hoot Events, so I was so happy to hear the news that her and her husband would be expecting their first baby this spring. I always like to book sessions on daylights savings as I seem to luck out with the most gorgeous light every time, and I got lucky once again last weekend. Trinity was absolutely glowing and baby was really active the whole time which made for some really sweet moments. We started the session cozy inside the Mosaic centre then trudged through some deep snow for some outdoor shots in the golden light, so worth it! Trinity & Hugh thank you so much for choosing me to capture this special time. Looking forward to meeting your little guy in a few short weeks. All the best. Enjoy. {K}

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Vinh} Sneak Peek

Late post tonight, sometimes technology fails me at the worst possible time! This month has been so busy behind the scenes. My new in home studio space is coming together and will be ready just in time for Easter Minis happening this Sunday...I can't wait. I have to thank my amazing husband who has spent so many hours sanding, painting and helping me build my dream in home studio, I am such a lucky lady. I am hoping to have my new website and packages that include in home, on location and studio pricing ready soon! Be sure to join my VIP group on Facebook though for the latest announcements as well as special introductory pricing and studio model calls.

I can't believe it was almost two summers ago that I first met this beautiful family to capture little Dresden turning one. I was happy to have the opportunity to photograph their growing family again with the arrival of baby Vinh, such a sweet baby boy. I am so lucky to be invited into families homes to capture such a special time, a fleeting time that passes so quickly but is so full of love and moments that you will want to hold onto forever. At just 5 days old, little Vinh was so sleepy for most of the session, so content in the arms of his mom or dad or snuggled up with his brother. Stephanie and Kevin, thank you for inviting me into your beautiful home to capture this special time, it was so nice seeing you all again. Wishing you all the best as a family of four. Enjoy. {K}

Edmonton Extended Family Photographer {Ng Family} Sneak Peek

March is right around the corner, which means spring is almost here, almost! As much as I love winter, there usually comes a point in February where I've just had enough. I can't wait for warmer weather and longer days when I can get out and do more sessions outside. Spring mini sessions in the cherry blossoms will be happening in May again this year, be sure to join my VIP group on Facebook for the first chance at bookings, last year's sessions sold out in hours. My summer availability is also booking up really fast, so don't wait to book your grad photos or summer family photos.

I met this beautiful family a couple weeks ago, after Sarah contacted me to photograph her family while she was in Edmonton visiting from out of province. It was too cold to head outside,  but luckily her parents have a light filled front room that was perfect for some family portraits. Sweet little Ella wasn't too sure about being the centre of attention, but nothing a few gold fish crackers couldn't fix. 2018 is going to be an amazing year for this family, with a new baby due in the spring and a summer wedding. Ng fmaily, thank you so much for inviting me into your home to capture your family. Wishing you all the best. Enjoy {K}
