Edmonton Maternity & Newborn Photographer {Baby Kensingnton}

Well with freezing temps this week it looks like the beautiful fall weather has finally come to an end. I have a few more family sessions to shoot and I will be in touch with each family with the option to shoot in studio or home if it does end up to be too cold to shoot your session outside. Crossing my fingers this means that we will have lots of snow for winter family mini sessions coming up on November 15. My 2020 family session dates are officially fully booked but you can still book winter minis or studio Christmas Portrait minis online now.

Now that my busy fall rush is coming to an end I will have a bit more time to catch up on some blog posts that I didn’t get to this past year. Before COVID hit I was photographing so many newborns that I didn’t have time to feature them all. Hope you enjoy all the adorable squishy newborn goodness coming your way.

I’ve known this beautiful family for a few years now after meeting them when big brother Maverick was born. Miss Kensington arrived just before Christmas and was my last newborn session before enjoying the holidays with my family. Hard to believe a year has almost past and I will be shooting her 1st birthday session soon. 10 lbs. of pure adorable squish, Kensington was an angel for her session and so full of adorable gassy grins. Michelle & Christopher thank you so much for choosing me to be your family photographer, it has been wonderful getting to know you all and watch your family grow.

I’m back! after a much needed couple weeks off I am ready to officially hit 2020 running. Our second Disney Cruise once again far exceeded all expectations, we had the most amazing time and can’t wait to go again in a few years. If you are looking for the perfect family vacation, I cannot recommend Disney Cruise Line enough. Here are some highlights from our trip.

From one wonderful trip to the next - this Friday I am off to Toronto for Kelly Brown’s newborn workshop. Kelly has been an inspiration to me since I started my journey as a newborn photographer, and I cannot wait to learn from her in person. One thing I love about photography is that no matter how long you have been at it there is always room for growth and always something new to learn. This year I plan to shift the majority of my focus to newborn photography. I love babies and love capturing this special times for families, such fleeting time that they will never get back. Check out my new newborn package offerings, including a brand new Bundled Mini package for families with a smaller budget who are just looking to capture baby alone.

I will still be offering family sessions, but dates will not be released until mid-March, and openings will only be offered between May and October. Very limited openings will be available for online booking soon, be sure to join my VIP group on Facebook for the chance to book first and receive special discounts.

I met this beautiful family on the second day of 2020 for a romantic winter maternity session. Keren was just glowing and you could just sense the anticipation for this new baby from both mom and dad to be. We lucked out with the most gorgeous weather and golden light, what an amazing start to the year. Keren wore one of my maternity wardrobe gowns which I am now happy to offer to all maternity clients in 2020.

Beautiful, and I mean seriously beautiful, miss Vida arrived a few short weeks later right on her due date - during one of the coldest snaps on record. I arrived to be greeted by beaming grandparents visiting from BC, so happy to spend time with their newest grand child, for Keren’s mom her long awaited first grandchild. Mom and dad were just smitten with joy for their precious baby girl, so many heart melting moments. Vida (which means life) was just an angel for me, even when she was awake and so alert for much of the session. Keren & Zach, thank you so much for inviting me into your home to capture this exciting new chapter of your lives. Wishing you all the very best as a family of three.

Happy Sunday everyone. I hope you had a fabulous weekend and enjoyed some of the nicest weather we’ve had in a month. Between Thursday and Saturday I shot 3 family sessions and a sweet pumpkin patch cake smash session, so busy, so today it was time to relax a bit and get caught up on some blogging and editing. You may have noticed that I haven’t been blogging family sessions; truth is I am just way too busy to blog every session over the summer and fall months, but I will be sharing all of my favorite sessions over the course of the slower winter months, so stay tuned. Are you thinking about Christmas yet? I am! The past few weeks I have been stocking up on sweet holiday newborn props for all of my holiday newborns (still some openings available) and last week I released my Christmas studio and Outdoor winter mini session dates - dates are starting to book up fast, see available bookings and book your spot here today. There are still some fall dates available and now is the best time to book your extended holiday season family sessions, there are a few openings just before Christmas and New years to accommodate families that all get together over the holidays.

I met this gorgeous couple this summer and as soon as I met them I could tell that a) they would have the most beautiful baby and b) I was about to shoot my favourite maternity session of all time. Ashley arrived to maternity session with a few just lovely dresses to wear, we had the most amazing golden hour light, and as usual we had one of my favourite spots all to ourselves. Worst part - the mosquitoes! I was getting eaten to death right through my jeans and poor mama Ashley, changing as we went nearly got eaten alive. You just can’t win here all the way in the summer.

A few weeks later sweet little Bennett arrived..my 7th newborn Bennett of the year! The funny thing is that I always loved the name Bennett for a boy, but never got to use it since I had three girls. Now I guess I just book families who have a great taste in names. I arrived to a new mom and dad who had slept in a bit late (I would too if baby was sleeping) and a wide awake baby boy. After what seemed like hours, I finally got little B to sleep and we ended up with the most adorable sleepy shots and warm cuddly shots with mom and dad who were just so obviously in love with their new bundle of joy and with each other in their new role as parents. Ashley and Matt thank you so much for choosing me to capture this special time for your family. Wishing you all the best as a family of three and p.s Happy anniversary. Enjoy, {K}

Only 3 more weeks until back to school Once again this summer has flown by. As mush as I love my girls this is around the time of summer I reach my breaking point and start to look forward to school - the routine and the few mornings I get of quiet with my littlest in pre-k this fall. This summer has been my busiest yet business wise, so trying to stay on top of blogging and editing has been a struggle with three kids almost constantly needing something or my puppy needing to be walked or entertained. I really appreciated all of my amazing clients who have been more than patient as I get caught up. Fall is right around the corner so I won’t be slowing down anytime soon - snap one of my last fall family session openings online today.

My last session of 2018 was held at the ice rink across the street from my home and it was to capture this amazing couple finding out they would be having a baby girl this summer! What a perfect way to end a year and look forward to a new one.

Ash and Nicole Reveal Session 4.jpg

Fast forward to July 20th and Miss Winnie Louise was finally here! I had photographed Nicole’s maternity session back at the beginning of June and thought baby would be here a lot sooner, but she definitely made her parents wait - but as well all know a sweet baby is always worth the wait. I got to meet her at just a week old and she was just a dream to photograph, and her nursery was something else, just perfect! Ash and Nicole, thank you so much for having me capture this very special time for your family. Wishing you all the best as a family of three (or five if we count the dogs!) . Enjoy! {K}

Edmonton & Area Newborn Photographer {Baby Mariah} Sneak Peek

Rare afternoon blog post because my husband and I are off to VEGAS for the weekend and I am planning on shutting off social media so we can enjoy this time together, out first trip away alone in four years. We are so grateful to have family close that supports us in so many ways, the girls are looking forward to a fun weekend with their grandparents and we are so lucky not to have to worry about them when we are away. This was one of my only weekends left this summer, once we get back it will be go go go, lots of newborn, maternity and family sessions and even some teaching. I will release my limited remaining 2018 openings when I return, se sure to join my VIP group so you  don't miss out.

I met this gorgeous family earlier this spring for Brittany's maternity session during the tail end of our long winter. They weren't sure if a baby girl or boy would be joining big brother Liam, so I was excited to hear that they welcomed baby Mariah, a little sister. Little Mariah definitely made me work for each shot, but after some cuddles she slept like a dream most of the session. Big brother on the other hand was an absolute dream and was just delighted to have his photo taken with his new baby sister. I am so lucky to now be able to offer newborn sessions in my Devon home studio to cater to families specific needs, this family was still in the process of finishing their new home so a studio session was the best option for them. Brittany and Adam, it was so nice meeting you and capturing this special time, wishing you all the best as a family of four. Enjoy. {K}
