Edmonton In home newborn photographer

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Codi}

I know right, it’s been a hot minute since I last wrote a blog post. My last post was almost 7 months ago, my last newborn session that I shot before COVID hit and everything shut down. The first few months of staying home were heart breaking as I had to cancel newborn and fresh 48 sessions for many families expecting their first baby, some expecting twins, some expecting what might be their last. As difficult as it was, cancelling or postponing sessions until phase one was for the safety of my family and yours, always my number one priority.

Now that I am able to safely photograph newborns again, ever since we entered phase 1, I do so with the utmost precautions. I closely monitor the health of myself and my family and always reschedule in the event any of us are showing any symptoms of COVID or are sick. When photographing your family or newborn I always wear a mask. Hand washing and sanitizing has always been important, but I am extra vigilant now. Props have always been and continue to be washed and sanitized between every session. My home studio is now open, but I keep a minimum amount of available openings to ensure space can be sanitized between clients. I will continue to follow guidelines put forward by Alberta Health Services, and deposits will be refunded in the event I cannot photograph your family due to COVID restrictions.

2020 has been a difficult year, but I am so thankful to the amazing families who have continued to support me and still make 2020 one of my busiest yet.

I met this beautiful family for a maternity session on the most beautiful early summer night. Stephanie was just stunning in a few of my maternity gowns which I now offer to all maternity clients. They were just beaming with joy and so excited to meet their baby boy. Little did we know that Stephanie would go into labor that night!

I was very surprised when Stephanie emailed me a couple days later to tell me baby arrived the same night as our maternity session. Talk about cutting it close. Little Codi was an absolute dream to photograph and big brother Max was so in love with his new brother, a best friend for life. I am so excited that I will be photographing Codi’s first year and seeing this family a few more times in the near future. Stephanie and Remi, thank you so much for having me capture this fleeting time for your family. Wishing you all the best as a family of four.

Edmonton Fresh 48 & Newborn Photographer {Baby Brynn}

It’s officially spring break and after a fun weekend with family, including checking out the new Royal Alberta Museum (highly recommend!), I’m ready to enjoy having my kids home this week. We will do some baking, check out the new children’s area at the Telus World of Science, maybe go swimming, and hopefully get outside a lot, the perfect staycation. Hope you and your family have some fun planned for the week if it’s spring break for your kids too. With spring officially here and summer just around the corner now is absolutely the best time to book your 2019 family session. Weekend dates are all ready booking up into the fall. Some pointers again for picking the right season for photos - late May means cherry blossoms, late July canola fields (and bugs!), fall officially starts in September but colors are usually best between mid September and early October, and winter makes the perfect backdrop for holiday photos or extended family sessions when everyone is together for the holidays. I am so lucky to have the absolute honour of capturing this beautiful family for their baby girl’s first year. I got to meet Brynn when she was just hours old for a Fresh 48 session. Fresh 48 sessions are done in hospital when baby is 12-48 hours old, usually timed for when older siblings come to meet their new baby or brother or sister for the first time. The pure love and joy that surrounds a new baby those first days is full of precious moments that are so fleeting and I am so lucky to freeze time for these families. Fresh 48 sessions can be booked alone or at a discounted rate when booked with a newborn session or first year packages.

A couple short weeks later I photographed sweet little Brynn again for her newborn photos. It is always fun to see how families are adjusting to having a new little one and I am always amazed how much babies can change in as little as 10 days. Miss Brynn was so alert and spent a lot of time awake before melting into her dad’s arms and drifting off to sleep for her posed portraits. Big brother Chase was full of love for his new sister and even though he was a typical busy toddler, we got some very adorable snuggly shots of him and his sister. I cannot wait to see this family again later this year when Brynn is ready for her sitter session, the time will fly by I am sure. Meghan and Garret, thank you so much for having me capture this special time for your family. I am looking forward to getting to know you more this year and wish you all the very best as a family of four. Love {K}.
